What We Do
“Ensuring sustainable livelihoods and regular employment for rural artisans…”
Rangsutra is a community owned craft company of over a thousand artisans from remote regions of India – the deserts of Rajasthan and plains of Eastern U.P and all the way to Manipur in the North East.
Rangsutra ensures sustainable livelihoods for artisans and farmers by creating top quality hand made products based on the principles of fair trade and a celebration of India’s rich craft heritage.
We see ourselves as a bridge between:
– Artisans and customers
– Tradition and the contemporary
– Change and continuity
Activities – With Artisans
Organizing artisans in small producer groups or self help groups. Equipping them with the necessary skills, tools and machinery to improve their craft and increase their incomes.
Coordinating and supervising the production of orders either directly with artisans or with their representative groups/organizations.
Ensuring active participation of artisans in the company through representation on the Board, on the Council and participation in Annual General Meetings.
Regularly creating new products that combine traditional skills with contemporary design.
Activities – With Customers
Sales of products directly to the end customer through exhibitions and online marketing channels.
Seeking and getting orders from buyers and ensuring timely and quality delivery.
Creating awareness about the need for ethical trade.
